‘Transformers’ May Spin Off Bumblebee Into His Own Solo Movie

The Transformers franchise has grossed more than $3.7 billion worldwide. So you and I and all rational thinking people might believe they’re terrible, but from a financial perspective, they’re definitely working. But you know that old expression in Hollywood: If it ain’t broke, break it into its component parts, and then turn each of those component parts into its own spinoff franchise to maximize revenue. I think Thomas Edison is the first guy who said that one.

‘Star Wars Rebels’ Taps ‘Rogue One’ Screenwriter Gary Whitta for an Episode

We’ve yet to see how well Star Wars can expand crossovers of its cinematic universe beyond the upcoming films, but we may yet see TV’s Rebels interacting with its big screen brethren. Original Rogue One spinoff writer Gary Whitta has confirmed writing an upcoming Rebels episode, which could well establish some connective tissue with the larger universe.

A ‘League of Extraordinary Gentlemen’ Reboot Is in the Works

Now that Universal is rebooting their classic monsters franchises with a new expanded universe plan, 20th Century Fox wants to get in on a little of that action with a similarly-flavored reboot of their own: The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, based on Alan Moore’s graphic novel, which features various characters from classic works of literature by authors like Bram Stoker, Robert Louis Stevenson, Mark Twain and more.

‘Batman vs. Superman’ Will Embrace Wonder Woman’s Long, Long History

It’s no secret that Hollywood has a hard time embracing older women, but there’s one who will never have to struggle to get work: Wonder Woman. The immortal superhero has been alive for centuries, and in case you were worried that the new Warner Bros. iteration of the character would try to make her more human, you needn’t worry anymore.
Heroic Hollywood delivered the latest Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice rumor, which reveals that the new WB and DC film will embrace Wonder Woman’s age.

Kurt Sutter’s ‘Bastard Executioner’ Gets Series Order, First Bloody Photo

Sons of Anarchy may have taken its final ride, but series creator Kurt Sutter is far from finished with FX. The network has officially handed down a series order to medieval drama The Bastard Executioner, chopping off the first bloody photo in the process.

‘World War Z 2’ Will Devour Your Brains on June 9, 2017

For those interested in film industry inside baseball, World War Z was genuinely fascinating. The production was plagued with one disaster after another, Brad Pitt clashed with director Marc Forster, and the final 40 minutes of the film were completely scrapped, rewritten from scratch, and reshot. And yet the finished film was pretty good and a big financial success. In fact, it’s the highest grossing film of Pitt’s career so far, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he’s back for the sequel, which has officially landed a release date.

DC comics doesn’t want Rihanna trademarking “Robyn,” for hilarious reasons

Pop star Rihanna’s actual first name is Robyn. Despite certain other pop stars probably being fond of that name, Roraj Trade, the company through which Rihanna spreads her brand marketing across various products, decided to apply for a trademark based on the singer’s given sobriquet. The intent behind it was to create a name for “providing online non-downloadable general feature magazines.” What could possibly be wrong with that?

Roger Deakins Will Shoot ‘Blade Runner 2’

Roger Deakins is widely regarded as one of the greatest cinematographers on the planet (except by the Academy, who’ve inexplicably never awarded him an Oscar despite 11 nominations). Deakins’ name in a film’s credits is a guarantee that no matter how terrible everything else in a movie is (and he has shot a couple stinkers), the movie will look gorgeous.

‘The Flash’ Boss Talks Finale Deaths, Season 2 Multiverses and More

The Flash has officially crossed the finish line of his first season with last night’s “Fast Enough,” but Barry Allen’s race is far from over. Following last night’s time-splitting crisis, producers have opened up on the (several!) shocking deaths, where and when Season 2 might pick up, and what DC surprises lie in store.

‘Warcraft’ Movie Reveals First Look at Orgrim Doomhammer

Say hello to one of the main characters of the upcoming Warcraft film, Orgrim Doomhammer, the Warchief for the Horde.
Wired has posted new pictures from the upcoming Warcraft film, which acts as a prequel to the popular MMORPG, World of Warcraft. Blizzard Entertainment released a trilogy of RTS Warcraft titles prior to World of Warcraft's release, and director Duncan Jones' Warcraft film will be primarily based on the first game of the series. Now, we can finally take a look at one of our Orcish heroes, Orgrim Doomhammer. Orgrim was rendered by the team at Industrial Light and Magic, who helped bring the Hulk to life in Avengers: Age of Ultron. ILM created Orgrim's look by using Blizzard's original concept art of the character as a basis and merging it with photographs of actor Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim).

Matthew McConaughey Says He’s Had Talks With Marvel and DC, Is Open to Playing a Superhero

Matthew McConaughey went from the affable guy in modest action films and mainstream rom-coms to serious actor with roles in projects like MudTrue Detective and Dallas Buyers Club — the latter of which earned him the Oscar for Best Actor. McConaughey is currently kind of a big deal, and when you're kind of a big deal, studios like Marvel and Warner Bros. want you for their superhero films. The actor says that's certainly the case, although he hasn't signed on for anything just yet.

‘Tomorrowland’ Review: This Thrill Ride Breaks Down on the Way to Utopia

The best argument for Tomorrowland is its release date; one week after Mad Max: Fury Road, a film about a world destroyed by an oil war, and a week before San Andreas, in which an apocalyptic earthquake destroys half of North America. Less a blockbuster action film than a stern but well-intentioned lecture accompanied by an elaborate audiovisual presentation, Tomorrowland argues that rampant cynicism is actively poisoning our future. People become so convinced by movies like Mad Max and San Andreas that the world is doomed that they start to believe it really is. So they give up, and dystopia becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Tomorrowland tries, through sheer force of will and a heaping helping of bright, shiny special effects, to reverse that trend; to convince people that there’s hope for tomorrow.

Crossbones Makes His First Appearance on the ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Set

When Frank Grillo’s character was introduced in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, he seemed like a decent dude; working for S.H.I.E.L.D. alongside Chris Evans’ Cap to save a bunch of kidnapped hostages. But for longtime Marvel readers, Grillo’s character’s name, Brock Rumlow, was a big red flag. In the comics, Rumlow is the real name of Crossbones, a deranged super-villain and frequent associate of the Red Skull. Sure enough, by the end of Winter Soldier, Grillo’s Rumlow revealed his true allegiance to Hydra (an organization created by none other than Red Skull) and squared off with Anthony Mackie’s Falcon in hand-to-hand combat.

This ‘Avengers 2’ Animatic Shows the Origins of the Epic Hulkbuster Fight

Whenever you watch a major action set piece in a modern movie, you are watching a sequence that probably came together months before the cameras started rolling. Complicated effects-driven scenes are often assembled in an early rough form so that the actual shooting of the scene can go smoothly. Avengers: Age of Ultron was no different; to watch the animatic of the massive battle between Iron Man and the Hulk is to watch how an action scene can change from origin to execution.

X-Men: Apocalypse’ Photo Teases the Consequences of the Past

Earlier today, we learned about a surprise X-Men: New Mutants spinoff to be written and directed by Josh Boone (so The Stand probably isn’t happening anymore, right?), but before we get that far, we still have X-Men: Apocalypse, the final chapter in Bryan Singer’s X-Men saga. Today, the director has teased a mysterious new photo from the set of the film with a rather cautionary caption.

CBS ‘Limitless’ and ‘Rush Hour’ Reboots Get First Trailer and Photos

Rihanna dons star-emblazoned jumpsuit as she parties with rumoured boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio

She's usually of the opinion that less is more when it comes to her clothing.
But Rihanna kept covered up in a rather demure, 90s inspired look as she hit the town in New York City on Tuesday evening.
The 27-year-old superstar was looking lovely in her black jumpsuit featuring gold star stitching as she reportedly enjoyed a casual evening with rumoured love interest Leonardo DiCaprio at Up & Down nightclub.
Rihanna wore her locks, currently a deep shade of red in a nod to her 2010 Loud era, down in natural curls, pinning a side section back with grips.

‘Ratchet and Clank’ Movie Acquires Vocal Talents of Sylvester Stallone, John Goodman and Paul Giamatti

It’s not surprising that an animated movie based on Ratchet and Clank is happening – the popular video game franchise has spawned 14 official entries and spin-offs since 2002. It’s especially not surprising that that the film has cast the likes of Sylvester Stallone, John Goodman, Paul Giamatti, and Rosario Dawson – every animated movie is chock-full of big names these days. The real surprise to come out of this news is just how much the upcoming film crosses over with the video game talent.

Liam Neeson Will Fight Some More Bad Guys in ‘A Willing Patriot’

Liam Neeson is a relentless and reliable action hero, whose films in recent years read like Mad Libs — give him a government badge, a leather jacket, a gun and a phone, then take either his family or threaten his country’s freedom, and voila. You have your very own Liam Neeson movie. (No, really — you can write your own. It’s easy.) For his next thrilling heroic adventure, the actor will pursue and fight a terrorist. Spoiler: Liam Neeson will win.

‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Toys Leave Black Widow Out of One of Her Best Scenes

Here we go again. As we’ve reported before, there is a major lack of Black Widow (and Scarlet Witch, for that matter) featured in Disney’s officially licensed Avengers: Age of Ultron merchandise. Even with Mark Ruffalo asking Marvel for more female superhero toys for his daughter to play with, the companies refuse to take a hint. Further stirring the pot, Disney and Marvel have left Black Widow out of new toy sets featuring one of her most badass moments in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It’s like they’re doing this on purpose or something — oh wait, they are.

Weekend Box Office Report: ‘Avengers 2’ Leaves ‘Hot Pursuit’ in the Dust

As expected, Avengers: Age of Ultron dominated the box office for the second weekend in a row, pulling in numbers that would be the envy of most summer blockbusters’ opening three days. And while the only new release of the week faltered, it was a surprisingly strong week overall, with many of the films in the top 10 faring well despite facing one of the biggest movies of the year.
