‘Batman vs. Superman’ Will Embrace Wonder Woman’s Long, Long History

It’s no secret that Hollywood has a hard time embracing older women, but there’s one who will never have to struggle to get work: Wonder Woman. The immortal superhero has been alive for centuries, and in case you were worried that the new Warner Bros. iteration of the character would try to make her more human, you needn’t worry anymore.
Heroic Hollywood delivered the latest Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice rumor, which reveals that the new WB and DC film will embrace Wonder Woman’s age.

So there you have it. In keeping with her comic book origins, Wonder Woman will indeed be hundreds of years old. That’s good news, particularly since previous rumors have indicated that Batman v Superman is using the New 52 origin story for Wonder Woman, in which she’s the demigod daughter of Zeus.
It’s unclear if that rumor is actually true, but we do know that WB is planning a trilogy of Wonder Woman solo films — the first, from director Patty Jenkins, will reportedly begin in the hero’s Amazonian homeland, where war has broken out amongst various factions. That description has been floating around for a while, and it’s possible that WB might be combining both the classic and New 52 origin stories for this version.
At any rate, we’ll have an answer (relatively) soon enough when Gal Gadot makes her debut as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, hitting theaters on March 25, 2016.
