‘Nosferatu’ Remake in the Works From Director of Acclaimed Upcoming Horror Film ‘The Witch’

One of the most talked about films of 2015 hasn’t even hit theaters yet — Robert Eggers’ The Witch blew audiences away at Sundance, but you probably won’t get a chance to find out why until much later this year. In the meantime, the director has lined up another new project: a remake of F.W. Murnau’s silent 1922 horror film Nosferatu.

‘Daredevil’ Season 2 Hires Emmy-Nominated ‘House of Cards’ Cinematographer

Bathed in shadows and noir lighting, Marvel’s Netflix Daredevil set itself apart from the rest of the MCU with a distinct visual palette, one the Man Without Fear looks to continue in protecting Hell’s Kitchen for a second season. To that end, Daredevil Season 2 has hired House of Cards’ Emmy-nominated Director of Photography, further establishing Matt Murdock’s (ironically) visual world in 2016.

‘Gambit’ to Film This Fall, Casting Descriptions Reveal Character Details

Deadpool wasn’t the only character who wasn’t properly represented in X-Men Origins: Wolverine — Gambit was also fairly disappointing in that film, leading many fans to wonder if we’d ever see a decent version of the character on the big screen. We’re finally getting our wish with Channing Tatum in the role of the Cajun mutant, and new info on the film not only reveals that it will begin shooting this fall, but gives us some idea of the players involved.

‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Welcomes Patrick Stewart to the Set in New Photo

We previously learned that neither Patrick Stewart nor Ian McKellen will be appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse, as the new sequel focuses more on the younger cast. But Bryan Singer’s latest photo from the set may be giving fans a glimmer of hope, with Stewart paying the production a little visit.

‘Flash’ Season 2 Casts WWE Star Edge as DC’s Atom-Smasher, With a Twist

Vancouver production of The Flash Season 2 earlier afforded our first look at Barry Allen back in action battling a new villain, though the “Flash Day” setting and masked foe raised a number of questions. At least one of those questions now has an answer (albeit with a dozen more questions), as former WWE superstar Adam “Edge” Copeland will play masked DC figure Atom-Smasher.

‘Spider-Man’ Eyes ‘Vacation’ Writers for Sony and Marvel’s Reboot

Recently, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has been talking up the Spider-Man reboot, comparing the intended tone to something along the lines of John Hughes’ teen movies in the ‘80s. Have Marvel and Sony found the right writers to deliver that promise? The studios are eyeing the writers of another upcoming reboot to help reshape the web-slinger’s franchise.

‘Fantastic Four’ Producer Says Fans Have a ‘Chip on Their Shoulder,’ Plus Check Out New Images

The new Fantastic Four reboot comes with a lot of built-in baggage — fans were so disappointed in the 2005 film and the subsequent sequel in 2007 (perhaps more so with the latter), that they’re naturally skeptical of another go-round with the super-powered quartet. Producer Simon Kinberg is aware of this and acknowledges it in a new interview, while remaining in director Josh Trank’s corner regardless of the rumors that continue to swirl about his behavior on set.

‘Prince Charming’ Live-Action Comedy Planned at Disney

Of all the live-action re-imaginings of classic fairy tale properties in the works over at Disney, this is perhaps the most interesting one based on concept alone. The studio has acquired the screenplay for Prince Charming, a live-action comedy which centers on the love interest of many a Disney princess.

‘Black Panther’ Will Not Be Directed by Ava DuVernay, Director Confirms

Well this is kind of a bummer. It’s been reported for some time that Marvel was considering Selma director Ava DuVernay to helm their Black Panther film (other reports suggested they were also considering her for Captain Marvel). DuVernay herself recently added to the speculation with a tweet referencing the superhero, while Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that he had met with the director and would have an announcement by the end of July.
Well, we can stop holding our breath because DuVernay will not direct Black Panther after all.

Hello Kitty Is Getting Her Very Own ‘Hello Kitty’ Movie in 2019

Although it was only a matter of time, it seems a bit crazy that it’s taken this long for Japanese mega-brand Sanrio to begin developing a Hello Kitty movie. Everyone’s favorite friend turned 40 last year and Sanrio recently established a U.S. subsidiary to globally expand the beloved brand (as if they need additional help). That subsidiary will be in charge of the upcoming Hello Kitty film, which has an incredibly large budget.

‘Tomb Raider’ Reboot Reportedly Seeking a Woman Director

Following the disappointment of Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life, it’s not as if anyone has particularly high expectations for a Tomb Raider reboot — it wouldn’t have to do too much to surpass the quality of the last film. But Warner Bros. and MGM are apparently working quite hard to get this one as right as possible, and a new report suggests that part of that plan includes hiring a woman to direct.
