We previously learned that neither Patrick Stewart nor Ian McKellen will be appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse, as the new sequel focuses more on the younger cast. But Bryan Singer’s latest photo from the set may be giving fans a glimmer of hope, with Stewart paying the production a little visit.
Although he’s been deep into production, Singer has been keeping fans up to date with tons of photos on Instagram, teasing action sequences and Storm’s origin story, as well as general behind the scenes fun. His latest Instagram post welcomes a familiar face to set: Patrick Stewart, the elder Professor X.
Stewart and director Jason Reitman popped down to the set to check out Singer’s progress, but you probably shouldn’t get your hopes up for Stewart to make an actual appearance in the film. Still, it’s nice to see his ongoing dedication to and support of the franchise.
It’s still unclear if Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will make a cameo in the film, as Jackman himself has been playing coy, revealing only that The Wolverine 2 will mark his final appearance as the character.
X-Men: Apocalypse brings the First Class cast together with newcomers like Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp’s Storm, Tye Sheridan’s Scott Summers / Cyclops, Olivia Munn’s Psylocke, Oscar Isaac’s Apocalypse and more.
The film hits theaters on May 27, 2016.
