‘The Flash’ Star Ezra Miller Teases the ‘Event Horizon’ of His Superhero Solo Outing

We’ve still got a long way to go before we get to WB’s big screen version of The Flash — first we have to get through Batman v Superman: Dawn of JusticeSuicide SquadWonder Woman and Justice League. Ezra Miller, who plays the movie version of Barry Allen, is already talking up his role in the new DCU, offering a little tease for anxious fans.

While promoting his new indie film The Stanford Prison Experiment (hitting select theaters this weekend), Miller talked to MTV about his role in the DCU franchise and what he finds most exciting about it:
Barry Allen is the hero of the Silver Age who follows a lot of really interesting discoveries in physics. Where he comes from is where we figured out the Event Horizon was there, and he was the character who was created through our mythos machine of comic books to break that Event Horizon, so you could explore in fantasy… I think that’s an interesting idea. And, what’s an interesting idea to me is, ‘What the f**k does that do to someone?’
WTF, indeed. Miller has long been a fan of comic books and clearly knows his stuff. When asked if he’s avoiding The Flash TV series on The CW, Miller responded:
I’m not avoiding it at all. I think it’s awesome! C’mon, we’re The Flash! It’s parallel universes! Grant Gustin is The Flash AND I’m The Flash, don’t you see? It’s the Event Horizon, we crossed it baby! Grant and I are chillin’, we’re gonna have a race, it’s gonna be dope. Like Jay Garrick and Barry Allen back in the day.
WB and DC have explained that rather than make their entire movie and television universe cohesive like Marvel, they’re operating in alternate universes or timelines — much like actual comic books.
Miller has been rumored to be putting in a cameo appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which hits theaters on March 25, 2016. We’ll see him fully realized in Justice League: Part One, which arrives on November 17, 2017, followed by The Flash solo movie on March 23, 2018. Phil Lord and Chris Miller were previously attached to provide the screenplay for The Flash, but now that they’re working on the young Han Solo Star Wars anthology movie, they may not be available.
