Just a couple of days after he shared his hopes for an on-screen meeting between Bruce Banner and his alter-ego the Hulk, Mark Ruffalo is talking about Thor: Ragnarok again, this time hinting that it’s a buddy team-up movie and that we’ll probably see those buddies fighting — again.
Ruffalo is currently out promoting his new drama Spotlight, but anytime you interview a Marvel star about anything, Marvel is bound to come up. In an interview with New York Daily News, Ruffalo was asked about his involvement in Thor: Ragnarok, which will reunite him with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. Ruffalo didn’t seem to have much information, but he did share this:
I don’t really know that much about it, but I think it’s going to be a buddy picture with Thor and Bruce Banner.
Thor and Hulk haven’t always seen eye to eye — specifically, there was that moment in The Avengers when Hulk famously punched Thor right out of view. Given the testy nature of his big green alter-ego, Ruffalo thinks we’ll see the duo duke it out:
I think they’ll probably fight. There’s no doubt, everyone wants us to fight at one point.
As for what the film is about, Ruffalo could only offer:
I know that it’s about [the Norse legends of] “Ragnarok,” or the end times in the Marvel universe as it pertains to Thor — which seems to be quite the theme these days in movies.
The last we saw of Hulk, he hopped in the Avengers’ Quinjet and headed off into the atmosphere, with many fans speculating that this journey could take him to Planet Hulk — which could lead to a new Hulk movie. Nothing has materialized on that front yet, and Marvel seems hesitant to give the big guy another shot at a solo film, but we’ll likely find out more about where Hulk went and what he was up to when Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
