Now that we’ve all thoroughly dissected the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, it’s time to remind you that Disney has yet another massive trailer on the way that you’re going to get yourself all hot and bothered over. Marvel has a habit of debuting their first trailers in October, which means that, yes, the Captain America: Civil War trailer is almost upon us. In fact, according to a new report, it will be in theaters with Spectre and online even sooner.
Russia’s top theater chain, Cinema Park, posted to their Facebook page the news that the Captain America: Civil War trailer would be running in their theaters with Spectre on November 6, the same day the film opens here in the United States (Spectre is already in theaters in the U.K.). In addition to a theatrical debut, you can expect that the first footage will also be online before Spectre opens, which means we should be seeing the Captain America: Civil War trailer online next week (perhaps tied to an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?).
We’ve heard additional rumors that, not to be outdone by Warner Bros. and Empire, Marvel and Entertainment Weekly are teaming for a big Captain American: Civil War cover story in next week’s issue, which will debut our first official look at the film, possibly even the first look at Marvel’s new Spider-Man, Tom Holland. There’s the possibility that each team will get its own cover, pushing the “Choose Your Side” marketing angle. Those teams, in case you forgot, were Team Captain America with Hawkeye, Falcon, Bucky/Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, Agent 13 & Scarlet Witch, and Team Iron Man with Vision, Black Widow, War Machine and Spider-Man. In addition to those characters, Captain America: Civil War also features Frank Grillo as Crossbones, Daniel Bruhl as Baron Zemo, William Hurt as Gen. Ross, Martin Freeman as TBA and Merisa Tomei as Aunt May.
Here’s the official synopsis for Captain America: Civil War:
Captain America: Civil War’s plot picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
Captain America: Civil War opens in theaters on May 6, 2016.
