‘Z-Men’ Zombie Graphic Novel Adaptation in the Works

Zombies are here to stay thanks in large part to the continued success of The Walking Dead (and its recent spinoff, Fear The Walking Dead), and if you’re a fan of the graphic novel Z-Men or of all things zombie, you’ll be thrilled to know that Lionsgate is developing a film based on the new comic series.

THR reports that Lionsgate is developing a film based on Z-Men, the Jeff McComsey’s comic book series which takes place in the world of George Romero’s classic Night of the Living Dead. The story begins with a pair of buddy cop Secret Service agents sent to investigate the appearance of a zombie, but they find a town overrun with the brain-eating undead, and it quickly becomes clear that they’re in the midst of a potential apocalypse.
Although it’s often described as a Night of the Living Dead spinoff, only some of the story actually takes place in Romero’s classic universe. The first Z-Men comic book hit shelves in September, with the second scheduled to arrive soon.
Z-Men was the first title from Double Take, the comic book imprint of video game developer Take-Two Interactive, who have also teamed up with Lionsgate and Avi and Ari Arad to develop a film based on the hit game Borderlands.
