‘X-Files’ 2016: Mulder, Scully and Skinner Reunite

Still a ways off in 2016, FOX’s X-Files event series revival has kept classified most of its footage and photos, but fans needn’t wait any longer for the reunion between FBI Assistant Director Skinner and his two weirdest agents. See the holy X-Files trinity reunite in a new photo of Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny and Mitch Pileggi!

Anderson herself tweeted out a first look at the reunion, which also manages to include a framed portrait of President Obama, likely signaling a scene in at least someone official’s office. We don’t know exactly what became of Mitch Pileggi’s Skinner in the years since our last X-Files movie, though Mulder at least looks to be getting back in the swing of things, suit, tie and all.

Thus far, FOX’s X-Files return has confirmed the Lone Gunmen, Annabeth Gish and William B. Davis to reprise their roles beside David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, while Community star Joel McHale will play a conservative pundit who tasks Mulder and Scully with investigating a woman claiming to have been abducted (The Americans star Annet Mahendru). Additionally, comedian and superfan Kumail Nanjiani will play a small role, while Flash star Robbie Amell and Six Feet Under alum Lauren Ambrose will play a pair of confident new FBI agents.
On the creative side, writers and producers Chris Carter, Glen Morgan and Jim Wong will return to write and direct, with Frank Spotnitz also eyed to pitch in, and composer Mark Snow also coming aboard.
Plenty more details will arise in the meantime, but what other past X-Files characters might still return? Under what circumstances might we find the FBI trio reuniting?
