‘Sicario’ Director Denis Villeneuve ‘Would Love’ To Make a James Bond Movie

Sam Mendes has already said Spectre will be his last Bond film. So who will pick up the franchise afterwards? One filmmaker is already adding his name to the list of candidates: Denis Villeneuve.
In a recent interview with ComingSoon.net, the Sicario director was asked about moving away from genre films like Prisoners and Enemy, as well as his upcoming sci-fi film Story of Your Life and his Blade Runner sequel, to make the more action-heavy Emily Blunt drama. Villeneuve said he was excited to take on a film with more action and to move away from the rules tied to genre movies. The French-Canadian director also revealed his love for 007 and his desire add another existing franchise to his resume:

‘Jack Ryan’ TV Show Gets Amazon Straight-to-Series Order

Well, that was fast. Just one week after we learned LOST alum Carlton Cuse had in mind a Jack Ryan TV series based on Tom Clancy‘s enduring CIA hero, Amazon swoops in with a straight-to-series order. Will a TV prequel finally revitalize the character?
As originally announced (and now confirmed at THR), the new series won’t follow any specific Jack Ryan book, but rather spotlight a contemporary take on the character “in his prime as a CIA analyst/operative,” drawing liberally from source material. Seemingly titled Jack Ryan as well, the series reunites the LOST duo of co-showrunner Carlton Cuse and writer Graham Roland, pairing with Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes, Skydance Media and Paramount TV.

Jon Snow’s Fate Finally Revealed in ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Set Photo!

Boy, has Game of Thrones Season 6 had a rough day keeping things under wraps. At long last, photographic evidence has surfaced from the Ireland set, confirming what we’ve all known about our favorite fallen Night’s Watchman for months. Oh yes, ladies and gentlemen. Jon. Snow. LIVES.
Take whichever grains of salt you wish with this latest revelation, but where conflicting accounts have raged for months of Kit Harington’s Season 6 fate, a new set photo has finally emerged to confirm Jon Snow (or is that Stark?) suited up for battle. We’ve known for months that the actor maintained at least some presence in Belfast, but never more clearly has Jon Snow’s survival been seen:

The Daily Mail has additional photos, while WinterIsComing also notes that we can spot “Hardhome” director Miguel Sapochnik on set giving direction as well. Recent rumors have suggested Jon Snow would participate in a massive battle, comprised of Boltons, Umbers and many more, ostensibly the largest shoot in the series’ history.
Elsewhere of Game of Thrones Season 6, screen legend Max von Sydow has been cast as the mysterious Three-Eyed Raven to a returning Bran, while Deadwood alum Ian McShane will also appear in a limited, mysterious role, joining Richard E. Grant and The Babadook star Essie Davis as theatre troup players, four notable actors as the Tarly family, and Borgen star Pilou Asbæk as fan-favorite Euron Greyjoy. Apart from a list of directors, Of Monsters and Men will put in a cameo, and story logistics seemingly confirm scenes set at The Wall next year.
HBO is still celebrating Game of Thrones Season 5's Emmy wins, but has Jon Snow’s fate finally been put to rest? Can we expect more official confirmation before 2016?

Vin Diesel Announces New ‘Fast and Furious’ Trilogy Will End the Franchise

Last week reports surfaced that Universal Pictures was having an exceptionally difficult time finding a director to take on Fast and Furious 8, in part because Vin Diesel can be such a pain in the ass to work with. It was a damning report about the status of one of the most beloved and successful movie franchises, but Diesel himself has taken to his Facebook page to refute some of those claims and update on the status of the next Fast and Furious films.
While we’re all talking about what is going to happen with Fast and Furious 8, as a 2017 release date looms on the horizon, Diesel said that they’re currently planning a new trilogy of films that would bring the series to an end with Fast and Furious X, but, contrary to reports, haven’t even offered a director the job yet.

20th Century Fox Announces Plans to Release VR Movies on Oculus Rift

Virtual reality is back and this time, it’s probably going to hang around for awhile. Anyone who has had the opportunity to try out the Oculus Rift VR headset (or one of the several direct competitors rushing to beat it to the market) can attest to that. Forget about the VR fad of the ‘90s – this is the real deal. It’s almost terrifyingly immersive. And now, 20th Century Fox has announced plans to begin releasing films straight to VR headsets, signaling a future where you can watch movies on a simulated big screen from the quiet safety of your home.

Leonardo DiCaprio Developing 1980s Gangster Drama for Showtime

Poor Leonardo DiCaprio may never get that Oscar, but would an Emmy suffice? The ubiquitous Scorsese star has set his sights on TV, developing a new 1980s gangster drama with Showtime, exploring Wall Street’s influence on the mafia and law enforcement alike.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Ray Donovan writer Brett Johnson will write the new series, which chronicles “decade-long relationship between an unstable mafia captain and a rogue federal agent, each violating the strict codes of their respective organizations. Set in 1980s Brooklyn, the potential series examines the corrosive power the Wall Street era had on both the mafia and the FBI.”

Ice Cube Re-Teams With ‘Ride Along’ Director for ‘Christmas Carol’ Tale ‘Humbug’

Just the thought of Ice Cube shouting “Bah, humbug!” is enough to inspire a laughing fit, and while he may not utter that distinctive phrase in his new Christmas movie, he will get downright Scrooge-y for the part. Ice Cube is re-teaming with Ride Along and Barbershop director Tim Story for Humbug, a contemporary take on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

Emily Blunt Explains Why Her Name Keeps Popping Up in Those ‘Captain Marvel’ Casting Rumors

Ever since Edge of Tomorrow, Emily Blunt’s name has popped up for leading roles in movies like Captain Marvel, and she’s not the only one. After Rebecca Ferguson broke out with her badass role in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, her name was heavily favorited for the role of Marvel’s Carol Danvers. Why is it that only a few select actresses names are rumored for these action-centric roles? Blunt has a good explanation.

‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Scares Up ‘The Babadook’ Star Essie Davis

While the entirety of Game of Thrones Season 6 may end up spoiled on sight alone, observation of the set often yields some strong casting choices for the season. Case in point, The Babadook star Essie Davis has been spotted filming on the Game of Thrones set, in role that should look familiar to fans.

‘Suicide Squad’ Rumor: This Is Probably the Super-Villain All the Villains Were Recruited to Fight

Suicide Squad is a movie based on the concept of a super-group of villains recruited by a government agent to defeat an even bigger threat, with the idea being that if they join forces, their collective villainy will outweigh the evil of one mega-villain. But who have they been recruited to defeat, exactly? That’s one thing we don’t know, although it is a little easy to suss it out from the footage we saw over the summer.

‘Captain America: Civil War’ Almost Made Kevin Feige Leave Marvel Studios

As has been reported heavily this week, there’s been a restructuring at Marvel Studios, with the company disengaging from Marvel Entertainment and CEO Ike Perlmutter and instead reporting directly to Disney. This is great news for Marvel Studios and president Kevin Feige, who will now have more control over the direction (and finances) of the MCU. But Feige was very close to leaving the studio entirely thanks to problems withCaptain America: Civil War.

‘Neighbors 2’ Adds Selena Gomez to the Sorority House

So far we don’t know much about Neighbors 2 — the title is rumored to be Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, and will reportedly focus on Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne’s married couple dealing with a new, obnoxious sorority that moves in next door, essentially gender-swapping the conflict from the first film. Chloe Moretz was the first newcomer to sign on, and now she has company, with former Disney darling and Spring Breakers star Selena Gomez joining the cast.

Will ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Give Spider-Man Organic or Mechanical Web Shooters?

The fight over whether Spider-Man should have organic or mechanical web shooters in film / TV adaptations has been ongoing — Sam Raimi went against canon by making Spidey’s web-slinging abilities the result of a mutation, while one of the only thing Marc Webb’s films did right was give the hero mechanical web shooters. But what will Marvel and Sony’s newly rebooted Spider-Man have when he makes his debut in Captain America: Civil War?

‘Supergirl’ Casts ‘Salem’ Star Iddo Goldberg as DC’s Red Tornado

short while back, CBS’ Supergirl made known its intent to feature DC android (as well both hero and villain) Red Tornado, and now the character at last has a face. Well, sort of. Salem star Iddo Goldberg will play the android’s creator T.O. Morrow (yeah, we know), and may also have a hand in playing the super-robot himself.
According to ComicBook.com, Goldberg will portray Dr. T.O. Morrow in an early episode of Supergirl’s fall run, while Warner Bros. offered an intriguing description of the Red Tornado android:

Report: ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Casts ‘Borgen’ Star as Euron Greyjoy

New ‘Gotham’ Season 2 Photos Reveal Our First Costumed … Well, Someone

Yesterday’s first clip of Gotham Season 2 had things looking more or less the same, despite what series star Ben McKenzie says about an improved approach, though the full photo set from the premiere bring with them an intriguing new figure. Are citizens of Gotham finally suiting up, costume, cape and all?
Briefly visible in the initial trailer, a mysterious costumed figure appears in the official photo release of Gotham Season 2 premiere “Damned if You Do,” a heavyset man with hockey pad-type armor, a purple cape, and black helmet clearly meant to evoke the Batsuit. The character also appears subservient to James Frain’s menacing Theo Galavan, though whether the figure serves as henchman, or general anarchist remains to be seen.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Rounds Out the Team With Gamora’s Backstory

Whether or not James Gunn disputes their canonicity with the films, Disney XD’s Guardians of the Galaxy shorts already have us aboard the new series by filling in gaps the MCU may never get around to. Rounding out the ranks of our beloved criminal super-team is none other than Gamora, and her deadly rivalries with both Nebula and Korath.

‘Batman vs. Superman’ Rumor Control: No, Michael Shannon’s Zod Does Not Have Flipper Hands

A few weeks ago Michael Shannon got the internet buzzing when he made comments during an interview about his involvement in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It involved General Zod (whose corpse appears briefly in the trailers), flipper-hands and a hilarious story about a port-a-potty. Michael Shannon would now like you to know that he was joking.
