Lately, many beloved television series have been revived. Last year, 24 made its return to Fox. More recently, cult classic Twin Peaks has been positioned to receive new life on Showtime and Fox announced a six-episode event series based on the sci-fi favorite, The X-Files. Even the ’90s sitcom Coach is being revived at NBC.
One of the more anticipated returning series is NBC’s Heroes Reborn, the 13-episode miniseries continuing the storyline of Heroes. Although much of the cast has already been set, and a teaser trailer was unveiled during the Super Bowl, another fan-favorite character is now onboard to return.
NBC has announced Masi Oka will reprise his role as Hiro Nakamura on Heroes Reborn for a guest-starring arc. The actor expressed his excitement in returning to the world of Heroes and said of his character, “Hiro Nakamura was such an inspirational role to play, and I’m hoping the fans will enjoy seeing him back on TV.”Creator/executive producer Tim Kring shared Oka’s hopes that fans will be excited to see the character again.
Aside from Oka, Jack Coleman will be reprising his role as Noah Bennet, a.k.a. Horned Rim Glasses. New cast members to Heroes Reborn include Zachary Levi(Chuck), Ryan Guzman (The Boy Next Door), Robbie Kay (Once Upon a Time), Judith Shekoni (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2), Danika Yarosh (Shameless), Henry Zebrowski (A to Z), and relative newcomers Kiki Sukezane and Gatlin Green.

Hiro is one of the most recognizable and well-known characters from Heroes, especially since he provided phrase that is still remembered and associated with the series: “Save the cheerleader, save the world.” Oka’s return as Hiro in Heroes Reborn is sure to interest many fans of the original show, and perhaps even win over those that have previously been skeptical of the upcoming miniseries.
However, Oka has signed on for a guest-starring role, which suggests he may only appear in a few of the 13 episodes NBC ordered of Heroes Reborn. As such, Hiro may not be included as much as many fans would like. That being said, though, Hiro’s return – in any capacity – is sure to interest fans of the original series.
